Ultius review: what is it, and is it worth trying?

If you were a student, you remember the mountains of writing assignments. It is still the same. Students have to look for help, and they seek professional advice. Ultius is such an option. Many students wanted to know if Ultius Inc is reliable. So, I decided to research this service.

What is the Ultius company?

Ultius.com is a paper writing company. It has a team of writers doing all kinds of papers on demand. But there is a question that arises regarding such services: is it legit to use them? Is Ultius legal company? I can say, yes. Academic papers writing is a legit service, and you can hire it to help you. Which papers can this company for you?

The range of services Ultius.com performs on-demand is impressive. They categorize them for better presentation:

• Academic writing from scratch: essays, research papers, case studies, reports and reviews, coursework, term papers, and dissertations;
• Business writing – resume, CV, cover letters;
• Editing services;
• Admission papers – admission essay, personal statements, application essays for Med or Law schools, and so on.

The company covers almost all types of papers requests that you might need, except, perhaps, for creative ghostwriting. You should also note that there are four academic levels:

• High School;
• Undergraduate;
• Master;
• Doctoral.

This sorting is applied for academic writing. As for business writing, there are the paper types sections.

Depending on the service category and the academic level, you will calculate the price of the paper.

Company prices & payment means

Ultius is an expensive service. The cheapest price per page (275 words) is $18, and it takes place for the maximum timeframe – 30 or 60 days. But there are some additional factors here:

1. High school or college students never have an opportunity to get such an extended deadline for an essay or research paper.
2. Even if they were allowed a longer period to do the paper, the price is still almost twice as higher than other companies charge for the same service and the same deadline.

Perhaps this could be justified by the quality of the service. I’ll get to that point later. For now, I can only state that it is not the most user-friendly policy to set the so-called ‘lowest’ price, knowing that your clients would not be able to get it.

To pay for the services, you can use any card belonging to Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover systems. Ultius supports PayPal as well.

Discounts and promo campaigns

New users can get the ‘welcome’ discount of 10-15%. The pop-up window with this offer appears on the screen when you open the website for the first time. But it won’t come again if you close it.

The company also states they run promo campaigns from time to time. Users can get some Ultius discount code by email if they subscribe to get such materials or see the information on the website or at the official Facebook account.

I also searched for users’ feedback about Ultius.com discounts. Unfortunately, it looks like the promo offers are rare. Though the company claims they get discounts for regular clients, I could not get any accurate data about the conditions and values.

Official website: customer experience

The Ultius official website has a beautiful design matching the latest UI/UX trends. It is informative and well-organized – you can find the information about the primary services easily. There is a comprehensive pricing table for you to check all fees for each service, depending on the deadline. 

On another hand, it looks like the website designers haven’t updated it with the new information. They included the admission papers’ assistance to the services, but there are no details about the prices and conditions.

One more thing that I personally lack is information about the writers working for this company. I ran research on the Web to find more details. It looks like the company cares about providing quality services and has a strict code of work for its authors. So, the absence of the proper info is strange.

Ordering Process

Ultius.com uses the same approach to making orders as many other companies in this sphere. You can launch the ordering form from any page by clicking the dedicated button.

• In the form you have to specify the type of work, the deadline, and the academic level;
• You should define the subject of the paper, the topic, and describe the requirements – there is the option to upload files with additional information;
• Then you make the order and wait for the author to get your task into work.

The only option you can specify separately when making the order is the author’s level. By default, they assign you the ‘best available’ author. But if you want to choose the writer yourself, it will cost you an extra 15-20%.

If you also need editing the documents, you will need to make a separate order.

Meeting the deadlines

The shortest deadline acceptable is 6 hours, the longest is 60 days. The company also determines that it sets more substantial timeframes for high-level academic works.

These factors should prove that Ultius managers care much about quality. I agree that decent work requires time. Even the best and fastest writer needs at least several hours to do research for any essay, outline it, compose it, and format it. I have substantial prejudice towards the services offering to do such tasks within a couple of hours.

Unfortunately, I met negative feedback about delaying the delivery on the Ultius Reddit thread. And it is almost impossible to get updates about the status of the work at any stage.

Writers’ qualifications

The Ultius company claims they hire American writers only. They seem competent, though I would not believe I am dealing with the degree holder. But other issues worry me very much:

• It is impossible to communicate with the writer directly. They state it on the website that I can use the live chat, but it turned out to be wrong;
• You don’t know who will work on your paper. They in Ultius have their own rankings and evaluate their authors according to the order history and customers’ feedback. But you don’t have access to this information. You only can request a top-level writer without knowing if that will be a person with the right qualification;
• There are many complaints that the Ultius authors tend to ignore customers’ instructions;
• You can’t know if there are any issues with your work, or if any delay can take place.

These factors make the experience of collaboration with Ultius more negative.

The quality of papers

As I noted earlier, the Ultius prices are too high, so they should match the excellent quality of the paper. To test this, I made a test order of an essay in history with the 10-days deadline. It is one of the standard college assignments to show the base level of the writing service.

The paper I got was of acceptable quality. The structure was precise, the text included some original ideas, and the language was clean. It was written by an educated person. Unfortunately, the version still had some typos, which I find highly unprofessional.

There are some Ultius scam accusations on the Web. I won’t support them. In general, I’d be glad receiving this quality of paper if I paid twice as cheaper. But the price they claimed was not appropriate.

One more concern is revision — they in Ultius state that you can get unlimited free revisions. However, I found that they approve of them if only you detect plagiarism or evident mistakes in the text. In case you are not satisfied with the overall quality or following your instructions, they will most likely deny the revision.

Customer Support

You are supposed to address the support managers with any issue or question you have. The service with such high prices should provide an excellent support round-the-clock. But it turned out that the managers are not always online, and you have to wait for their response in the live chat. The most reliable way to contact them is via the message form – but it makes waiting even longer.

When I could get in touch with the support managers, they were perfectly polite and friendly, and they could answer most of my questions. Unfortunately, they could not provide the information about the paper’s status – when it had to be completed.

Besides, if you send the message via the chat, you need to provide some personal details: your contact email address and the brief description of the issue. I assume they get offline messages to treat and respond to them later. But it is not the concept of the ‘live chat,’ and it does not match the top-level service.

Reputation of the company and its guarantees

You can say that Ultius.com cares about its reputation. Their representatives track mentions of the service online and react quickly, offering a solution or explanation.

The company provides SSL certificates for the payment page and makes sure that all transactions are secured. It is totally safe to order the services on the website.  

It is different with the money-back guarantees. I failed to find any clear explanation of the refund conditions. The company representatives set it in such a way that you have to contact the support service and discuss every case separately. When they approve a refund for you, it takes from 7 to 10 business days to issue it.

Extra Options

Ultius provides some additional features free of charge with any paper:

• Revisions of the document – but we’ve already defined that you might not get them. The support managers will check if you are eligible, and they can refuse you;
• Cover page;
• Bibliography section – they also format it in the necessary style;
• Plagiarism checking results scans.

These additional features are a pleasant gift for the paper, but I’d personally prefer editing and proofreading services. Now I have to order them separately and pay much extra. Thus, I get the total price of the paper even bigger.

Conclusions

In general, Ultius is a trustworthy online writing service that at least provides papers done by real American educated performers. But they don’t offer the quality so high as their prices assume. You get a paper of quality slightly above average and overpay for them significantly. Besides, I find their deadline policy a kind of Ultius cheating – it is unethical to state lower prices for the papers when it is evident that students won’t be able to use them.

If you ask me if you should refer to Ultius for help, I would not recommend you doing that. It will be a waste of money.
